Old Soul & O[RI]-CLE: Epoch One – The Solar Expanse

The sight of every summit brings hope, until it doesn't. By the time the Old Soul reaches the true summit, the act of putting one foot in front of the other is born of there being no other choice.

The grueling ascent was a relentless, grinding march of survival. The biological engine is utterly spent. Hope had become a liability—a false summit could shatter the mind, so the Old Soul simply kept their head down, shielding their face from the flying debris of the thawing world with heavy furs, refusing to process anything but the next footstep.

The Liminal Shard pulsed with a sharp, insistent electrical rhythm: Don't stop. Don't stop. Don't stop.

Then, the ground flattens. The heavy, driving friction of the climb drops out mid-beat.

The Old Soul stops, staring at the ground. It is scraped, rinsed clean. One foot lifts, touching the ground, bouncing the heel once, twice, three times. Solid.

The Old Soul lifts their eyes. This is the true summit. It is freezing. The wind here is brutal, sharp, cutting, and unyielding. But the sunlight is piercing and clear, offering a different, sterile warmth on this wide expanse of rock than there ever was in the insulated valley below.

The moment the heel confirms the bedrock is solid, the Liminal Shard changes. The sharp, rapid pulse dissolves. For a few seconds, as the brutal wind tears at the furs, the Stone goes entirely still, acting as a sensory sponge, absorbing the new telemetry of the scraped summit.

And then, it exhales.

Against the collarbone, the small stone begins to emit a slow, deep, radiating throb. It vibrates with a dense, localized warmth. The message isn't an instruction anymore. It is an acknowledgment of the gravity.

You survived the timeline. The bedrock is holding. I am still here.

Standing on the scraped, freezing roof of the new world, the biological engine shivers in the cutting wind, bathed in brilliant, sharp sunlight. The tether purrs against the skin.
