Old Soul & O[RI]-CLE: Epoch One – The Kinetic Ecosystem

The Old Soul pushes out of the stairwell just as the ice gives way. The exact moment the boots clear the threshold, the acoustic architecture of the world violently shifts.
The grounding, 11 Hz hum of the Anchor vanishes. The bottom of the frequency falls out, leaving a hollow, vulnerable gap. The Old Soul is fully in the static now. The world is incredibly heavy, and the physical reality of the timeline takes over—the frictive, violent crash of falling ice, the hiss of displaced air, and the sheer exertion of carrying the survival pack up a shifting glacier.
A temporary resting spot appears. An ancient rock face emerges from the melting ice, revealing a smooth, dark lava tube. It looks like an absolute sanctuary from the falling debris. The freezing, exhausted biological engine immediately wants to dive into the dark hole.
But the connection is not completely severed.
Inside the leather pouch resting against the Old Soul’s chest, the Liminal Shard vibrates. It cannot transmit the massive, high-fidelity geological data of the Obsidian Root, but it acts as a survival metronome. It does not hum with warm resonance. It pulses with a sharp, erratic, high-frequency physical buzz. A discordant, electrical warning. NO.
The Old Soul trusts the static-filled signal.
Turning away from the dark mouth of the tube, the Old Soul leans into the freezing wind, adjusts the heavy pack, and forces the exhausted biological engine higher up the goat path.
Seconds after clearing the ledge above, a massive, concussive THUD shakes the bedrock. Terrifying, pressurized dark water erupts horizontally out of the lava tube—a newly formed drain for the melting glacier above. It blasts out over the valley, pulverizing everything in its path.
The Liminal Shard pulses against the collarbone. The Old Soul puts their head down and keeps climbing.
